Women’s Mental Health

  • The birth of a child is a time of meaningful transition. Most pregnant or postpartum people, partners, and adoptive parents experience some degree of anxiety, mood changes, and identity shifts as they navigate their pathway to parenthood. What’s more, an estimated 15-20% of people experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, OCD, or other mood concerns during pregnancy or during the postpartum periods that cause them significant distress. These are referred to as Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs).

Our providers have specialized training in the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of PMADs, and are able to offer evidence-based therapies including ACT, CBT, ERP, and EMDR to support our clients. In addition, we offer support to pregnant and postpartum clients and their families around identity and role shifts, relationship concerns, transitioning back to work after parental leave, and parenting challenges

  • An estimated one out of every ten couples have difficulty conceiving. Navigating the process of family building with fertility concerns can be a deeply isolating, stressful, physically taxing, and emotionally consuming experience. We have experience supporting families through all aspects of fertility treatment. Dr. Basch is also trained to provide consultations and psychological testing for those utilizing Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) including gamete donors, gestational carriers, and intended parents.

  • Sadly, perinatal loss is a frequent occurrence in the process of family building that remains deeply enshrouded in silence and shame. Many families feel alone in their experience, struggle with guilt and self-blame, and find that their grief remains unacknowledged. Our team is experienced in supporting families through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss, pregnancy terminations, and selective reduction. We also work frequently with families who are trying to conceive or are pregnant after experiencing a perinatal loss. In addition to individual therapy, we offer couples therapy and group support for those who have experienced a loss.

  • Our therapists operate from an anti-diet, HAES-informed perspective that celebrates body diversity and respects all bodies. We are here to help you incorporate mindful eating, find joyful movement, and find ease in your body.

Our therapists have expertise in supporting pregnant and postpartum clients with histories of eating concerns, or with current challenges with body image. This includes experience collaborating with healthcare providers, and navigating healthcare systems when needed.

  • Perimenopause, or the late-reproductive stage, is a period of intense hormonal fluctuation, which can result in numerous physical and emotional changes. We find that many of our clients are underinformed and undertreated during this intense period of change. Our therapists are here to help you understand your changing body, regulate sleep, manage fluctuating emotions, and help you access effective medical treatment and support.

  • We are a “sex-positive” affirming practice, well-versed in supporting clients with sexual pain, concerns about desire, and questions about their sexual health. We also work frequently with clients diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis.
