About Me
I’m Dr. Jillian Neill, a clinical psychologist licensed in NC, NY, and have the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) in over 40 jurisdictions through PsyPact (this includes DC, MD, & VA). As a psychologist, I believe in creating a warm, safe space for individuals to share their stories and find meaning in their experiences. I specialize in identity development and am particularly interested in supporting people who are struggling with this transition to parenthood, including people experiencing perinatal depression and anxiety, working through the trauma of fertility challenges and pregnancy loss (including termination for medical reasons).
I also have expertise in providing holistic support for neurodivergent clients/clients with ADHD, and evidenced-based support for clients with complex trauma. I am also trained to provide HAES-informed counseling for those with eating disorders and disordered eating patterns.

Experience & Training
I completed my undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Following my undergraduate work, I earned an MEd from George Washington University in Early Childhood Special Education and Human Development. After teaching elementary special education, I pursued an MA and PhD in Clinical Developmental Psychology from Bryn Mawr College. During graduate school, I discovered my passion for working with the shifts and challenges that come with navigating the transition to adulthood.
I gained valuable experience working at several university counseling centers where I received training and honed my specializations in trauma treatment, eating disorders, identity formation, and development (including exploring and understanding LGBTQ+ identities), and anxiety disorders, After becoming a parent myself, I sought additional training in perinatal mental health and am now proud to specialize in perinatal concerns.
Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic style has been described as warm, compassionate, and honest. Where appropriate, I incorporate humor into my work, recognizing the seriousness of my client's experiences but not taking myself too seriously. Through collaborative and affirming therapy, I aim to empower clients to embrace their authentic selves and navigate life's complexities with resilience and self-compassion.
I was trained as a family systems and psychodynamic therapist, with a strong focus on understanding how our relationships have contributed and continue to contribute to how we show up in the world. Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as acceptance and commitment therapy, feminist therapy, and self-compassion, I tailor therapy to best meet the individual needs of my clients.
I recognize the contributions that marginalization and discrimination have on mental health and recognize the role that power and privilege play both inside and outside of the therapy room and I strive to honor the diverse identities of my clients in our work together. My inclusive approach provides specialized support for perinatal mental health, ADHD and Neurodivergence treatment, eating disorders concerns, and LGBTQIA+ identity exploration.
Focus Areas and Expertise
I specialize in perinatal mental health including clients working through perinatal depression, perinatal anxiety concerns, fertility challenges, and pregnancy loss, including termination for medical reasons. I also love supporting clients through the identity transition that comes with becoming a parent. I have lots of experience working with LGBTQIA+ families and providing affirming therapy that honors diverse gender identities and expressions.
I am an experienced trauma therapist and utilize evidenced-based interventions to support my client’s healing. I identify as a HAES (Health at Every Size) provider and utilize this approach to support my clients with eating disorders and disordered eating and body image concerns. Lastly, I have expertise in working with clients diagnosed with ADHD or who identify as neurodivergent.
