Michelle Weill Perinatal Psychotherapist

About Me

I'm Michelle Weill, a licensed professional counselor supporting clients in DC and Maryland. Research has shown us that the most influential factor in the success of therapy is the relationship between a client and their therapist. My ultimate goal when working with you is to create a safe space where you can feel comfortable openly and honestly sharing your experience. My passion lies in working with individuals, couples, and families learning to navigate the often confusing and emotional journey of infertility, postpartum depression, and anxiety, as well as parenting, pregnancy loss, and relationship concerns.

Experience & Training

I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park before pursuing a dual master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and School Counseling at the University of Southern California. During my graduate studies, I trained at Halle Berry’s Jenesse Center in Los Angeles, providing counseling focused on domestic violence education, empowerment, anger management, and sexual assault prevention for survivors and their families.

Since then, I have pursued postgraduate training from Postpartum Support International and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, specializing in perinatal mental health, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, and infertility. I am committed to continuous professional development through ongoing training, certifications, peer consultation, and staying current with therapeutic literature. In addition, I serve as a board-approved clinical supervisor and provide individual supervision for graduate licensed clinicians working towards licensure.

Therapeutic Approach

Clients have reflected that they appreciate my warm and inviting approach to therapy, but that I will also challenge and push them when they need it.  My eclectic therapeutic style incorporates mindfulness, Emotion-focused, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques and allows for us to create meaningful, strength-based treatment goals. Through these evidence-based approaches, we will create a healing experience that helps to quiet the inner critic while building self-compassion and resilience. Together with my colleagues, I am dedicated to providing a therapeutic space that is mindful of race, ethnicity, gender identity, religion, and sexual orientation and the unique roles these play in your life.
